Functional Medicine

Being human means meeting the full complexity of our existence at every turn. Every day we meet this complexity – in our bodies, in our relationships and in the world around us. And that takes more from us than we often realise.

It is entirely understandable and deeply human that amidst so many inner and outer impressions, we long for orientation, for context, for someone who can help us make sense of what we are experiencing. And yet truly individualised, genuinely informing support for our psychological, emotional and physical health remains rare.

When we see ourselves as a whole – as something that holds all these different dimensions of our existence together – we gain a different perspective on the interplay between our body, our mind and the life we have lived so far.

To do justice to the latest scientific understanding, particularly in the context of chronic illness, we need a more nuanced translation of how things connect for each individual story, and for the possible ways of working with it. The greatest gift we can give ourselves is to care well for our physical and psychological wellbeing and, despite everything, to nourish what strengthens our aliveness and health.

In my practice, I bring together, depending on individual needs, the insights of psychotherapy and trauma therapy with psycho-neuro-endocrinology and functional medicine. This combination has proven particularly valuable over my 15 years of work, especially for the integration of traumatic experience and its sequelae. I take into account blood work and existing medical findings, and complement these with extended diagnostics tailored to the individual including, for example, micronutrient analysis and stress and hormonal diagnostics.

Within this understanding, no standardised therapeutic approaches are possible. A particular focus of my integrative medical work lies in women’s health. I have gathered good experience here with the principles of naturopathic and psychosomatic medicine, micronutrient therapy and homeopathy. To extend what I can offer, I work nationally and internationally with specialist pharmacies that prepare individualised medicines according to prescription for the specific needs of my patients.

Holistic medicine, for me, means seeing the person as a whole. Body, mind and soul are, in my understanding, inseparably connected. In my work, I place great importance on understanding and treating the causes of symptoms in their full complexity.

Holistic diagnostics and therapy

As a trauma therapist, I have gained valuable experience over the past 15 years: unprocessed states of tension and chronic stress do not only burden the psyche they can have profound effects on the entire body. These tensions frequently remain in the body as embodied terror, influencing important physiological regulatory cycles and processes. This can lead to hormonal dysregulation, changes in immune response, chronic exhaustion and deficiency states that are often difficult to classify medically.

In my practice, I combine psychosomatic knowledge with methods from integrative medicine to support people in bringing their health back into balance. I accompany you whether you are already experiencing physical symptoms that you sense may be connected to your psychological life or whether you are suffering from psychological strain without yet having considered physical investigation. Extended diagnostics, going beyond the standard blood panel, can often provide important orientation here.
